Description: Nice version of Beethoven's Ode To Joy by Andre Rieu and The Opera Babes. With thanks to fransjeclevers: All believing, all embracing Earth below and sky above. There will never be a power Greater than united love. O light of hope enduring Ever in our hearts reside. Now, the time to stand together. No man may alone abide. O light of hope enduring Ever in our hearts reside. Now, the time to stand together. No man may alone abide. All as one in every nation By our bearing will be bound. Peace, the true and humble treasure Through compassion will be found. O light of clearest vision No illusion shall divide. Now, the time to stand together. No man may alone abide. O light of clearest vision No illusion shall divide. Now, the time to stand together. No man may alone abide. Day by day the dawn is breaking On the bond of brotherhood. O light of pure intention All dissension cast aside Now, the time to stand together No man need alone abide.

@ClassicalRelated Well Perhaps because it bears very little resembalnce tp whta he wrote.

To those who are saying this isn't Beethoven's 9th I issue a challenge. I would like to see, on the original piece, the words to this song. Until I see this I will continue to presume that Beethoven left this song wordless for the reason that he knew many would interpret this song many ways, and that not one of those ways would be wrong. I take my Hat off to Andre and the Opera Babes for yet another beautifully performed piece of music.

Bellisimooooo!

any where else but within his head. He obviously wrote it with a specific aim in mind and to change this - to remove part of it's vigour and timbre which so suit the poem which is set to it - is to do just that; to make it different from it's initial intent. I'm not saying that this is bad, but those who say it is not Beethoven are right. It's an arrangement, pleasant to listen to for sure, but nothing more than that. And titled completely wrongly.

final movement of his 9th Symphony - the above is not even a translation of "An die Freude" so this cannot even be called a version of it; this is something completely different set to an arrangement of the Choral. Finally - remember by the time that Beethoven wrote this piece of music he was completely deaf and so the point of whether he would like this version is rather moot. Maybe he would see it as better, maybe he would deem it too weak. He wrote the original without being able to hear it

This was pleasant enough, but it's not Beethoven's Ode to Joy. Before you jump down my throat, please hear me out. Firstly, Beethoven, and music of the Romantic Era in general, worked with rather specific forms of music, other forms and harmonies that are available to us now were either not used or not considered - and for good reason as most neo-romantic music is rather weak. Secondly the "Ode to Joy" piece is merely the words of Friedrich Schiller's poem "An die Freude" set by Beethoven to the

You're right..it's not Bait Oven...let's dig him up and make him play it for us.

That was so beautiful. Hearing the Opera Babes with an orchestra and choir and a nice video is a lovely rendition compared to the orchestral versions. The sound is magnificent. On a side note, why do arguements arise about people like it? If you don't like something, it's fine to say so, and if you don't think this is a good version of Beethoven's 9th then that's your opinion. Respect each other's opinions- someone may believe he wouldn't like it, others do. Be nice!

@Zenryobrownwolf How dare you presume that you know that this interpretation is not what Beethoven would have liked? Sure, it doesn't accord to your preferences, but you are a miserable arrogant by daring to suggest this is not Beethoven's 9th. If you have some mystique way of communicating with the long de-composed Ludwig, let us know. Frankly, you have no way of knowing that this is NOT his 9th symphony. Only Beethoven could tell us that. Cheers.

Yes of course but it´s not good pervormed. Beethoven had wrote other and THATS ist Beethoven 9 Symphony not this.

lol not Beethoven? this play is from Beethoven only performed by somebody else

Sorry i dont like it. It´s.. not Beethoven...

Excellent.

hi there i would love to be able to play these short videos on andres site and also the ones they send through to me from time to time but they will not play they keep coming and going of can some one help me re this that would be great cheers for now from oz

he's right why does everybody think they're a expert on classical music?

Why not? You make a great sweeping statement about it being bad. How do you know Beethoven wouldn't have liked it? How do you know it doesn't compare? Frankly, I am sick of reactions which pretend to have insight in hiw the great original was performed. Frankly, you are a 21st century citizen, and I respectfully suggest you have no idea as to how Beethoven would have wanted it performed two years after his death (he himself would probably have no idea either). Thumbs down to you.

hmm........ bad it doesn't compare to te great original
