The only thing that makes that statment sound offensive is the fact there really IS a huge education gap between blacks and whites in this country. The fact the George Bush from Texas (president or not) could say something like or even think like a white person isnt exactly shocking nor is it newsworthy. This is another example of why I don't like FOX News.

When I was growing up in the 60s and 70s white people would say to me, "Oh, you're so well spoken" and "you are a credit to your race" all of the time, and even at a young age, I realized it was a back handed compliment. However, there was no malicious intent behind them. Bush is white and Obama is black, now people are acting like they didn't notice. Both sides of the argument are true, my response is, "SO WHAT?"

MR. HILL IS ONE OF THE FEW DUDES THAT CAN GO TOE TO TOE WITH BILL O' REILY... I RESPECT FOR KEEP REINSTATING EVERYTHING REILY SAYS

I respect dude for constantly putting up with O'Reilly.

mark lamont hill has a large-arse mouth

I wonder if Bill O'Reilly has the capacity to not cut off people in the middle of their comments. It's gotta be frustrating to debate with him!

Good job Mr. Hill.

As much as I hate to admit it, O'Reilly is bang on this time. Why do people have to read too much into words? Obviously, Bush is not smart enough to put code into any of his messages.

Compliment is insult?!!! Orwell is spinning in his grave!!!

"not to say you do thoe things, justin using an example' ... lol owned!

Just by you verbalizing that lets me know that you your self are as ignorant and convoluted as the stereotypical black males you so vividly describe.Oh p.s. im black and im Majoring in biology not hip hop.

more black men are in jail than in the home rasing their kids. most of the younger black males want to be rappers instead of doctors, lawyers, scientist, etc. so the majority end up in prison. black women are going to college and getting degrees,..articulate black women want white men because a good black man is really hard for them to find.

marc is the man

@themartist Why? Like Bill said, there was no surprise in Bush's voice; he was just stating a fact, a true quality that Obama has, one that sticks out to Bush most likely cuz he knows he (Bush) is far from articulate himself. Sometimes it's just a genuine compliment and what comes to your mind first. That's not the only thing he had to say. Racism is still very alive today but ppl sure do jump to making accusation about it even in places where it's not the case.

I'm black and I don't see the big deal

Obama and Bush are cousins.

@themartist Everywhere I go it's like a minefield; careful where you tread or you might be ambushed by connoisseurs of whiners. You can't say concentration camp, you can't say bomb or fire in an airport, you can't say Hitler, you can't even do a simple hand motion that might be considered hazardous to ppl. People want to control EVERYTHING we say or think.

@themartist Are serious dude, are you...serious? George Bush doesnt know half of the time where his brain is, Bush is goofy and dumb but condescending? I don't think so, Bush could NOT grasp the sensitivity of that issue, he meant that as a compliment, why is it that every word that gets thrown around turns into a racial stew of black and white crap? You know what I think? People as a whole, are all too fukken sensitive, which is why im not surprised every topic in this world is sensitive.

I dont know...how many presidents before Barack Obama were articulate? Vice president Dan Quayle couldn't even spell potato so I think this is one of the few times I would have to agree with Bush. Shit, I dont even think Bush thinks of himself as articulate.

some people will just moan for the sake of it,

i work for ACCESSARIDE, & i was still pulled over by the police, lol. i sware to god, lol. im a young lookin black man, & i picked up another young handicap black man, & i was pulled over by the police because they wasnt sure what type of business i was doing. bottom line, if we were a couple of young WHITE BOYS, we wouldve never been pulled over

A misplaced apostrophe on a youtube response means I'm ignorant. Lets not forget your initial comment: "Many blacks are hyper-sensitive about what is said to them, yet caucasians have to put up with all kinds of crap" I love the way you try steer the conversation away from that into a new tangent, trying to change the argument into "whites have hard lives too". How articulate of you. And by articulate I mean manipulative, right winged, forked tongued, hypocritical, christian & ignorant

@justforlaughs22 And if you're going to use plurals in a sentence, make sure they're spelled right. It would be hillbillies-not hillbilly's. That's a possessive. Look who sounds ignorant now?

@justforlaughs22 Your comment infers that I'm racist without any proof. I wasn't whining. You misunderstood. My point is, which you don't care anyway, is that just because someone's white doesn't mean he/she hasn't had a hard life. I'm not a victim, never claimed to be one. I'm a survivor. I have friends from all walks of life, so I don't know where you're getting the idea I'm racist. Calling me names just shows how classless you are. It's an idio'ts way of arguing.
