Bach had a habit of writing a prayer at the beginning of his compositions and ending them with a thanksgiving to God. I am convinced that Bach's conviction in Christ was what imbued his music with the everlasting beauty which is heard by even the most ardent secularist. I give thanks to God for giving us this man and this music. We are all the more blessed for it.

I wouldn't say they killed it. To be honest with you, Dianne, before watching Eva, this song right here was merely a faint memory in the distant back of my mind. Maybe not even that, perhaps I'd never heard it. Now I really love it. It's the reason why I'm on this page, maybe the reason for all the Bach I listen to now. I'm luckily the type who can effortlessly detach music from associated images or memory, so this doesn't actually remind me of Evangelion. The 9th hardly does, either.

Don't completely avoid it... it is excellent, and probably the best mecha anime. HOWEVER it gets very very very freaky around episode 18 (i believe that's the right one...). If you know the phrase "nightmare fuel"... The music actually works with the scenes.Way to well... esp the Hallelujah chorus. (see episode 22, if you want an example)

in one capitule, the protagonist ask himself,, why we must to fight angels,, don´t they are God´s sent?..

Beautiful music. But when I hear it, I get Neon Genesis Evangelion stuck in my head, and I almost throw up. Gainax enjoyes taking great music, and making it unwatchable sad/sickening... they KILLED The Hallelujah Chorus, Ode to Joy, and now this...

Dear Internet Frame, Much as I would normally agree with you, being an agnostic cynic myself, Bach's main inspiration for composition was his love of his god, whether you you share his belief or not is immaterial. His faith was his whole reason for writing, composing and performing. Speaking as a man who has gone through the emotional roller coaster of marital separation, It is beautiful music like this that has let me believe that the world is still a place worth living in.
