The woman on james left is his partner Sarah Frater...

I am gonna go play with my trains :)

@trainlover657 naw he's still alive and well at 47, I don't know how he would have died, he broke the record for longest Scalextrick track...

hope i am fortunate enough to have a son with the same interest!

its sad to hear that his scottsman died in that world record attempt :(

It's almost as if 'collectors' have some sort of OCD about original condition. As if the trains must be in the same condition as they were produced. Im not saying trains should be beat up and their paint chipped away, but at least set the trains on rails with an actual 12V current running through them!

same thing goes for cars! why just keep the car clean and in mint condition? drive it to the ground!

i think that it is sad keepting a toy you should just wear it out like i do with all my scaletrix

whats the point of haveing a model train, boat, car, etc. & never useing it it should be used caerfully & boxed when stored.

I had a top layout when i was a kid but sold it for £300 so could buy a car, what a dick!!!! But I've just bought my 6 year old son one for Xmas and now he wants to build a massive track as he calls it, we're gonna have fun hehe

Nice one!!!

Christmas was always about the train set when I was a kid - had some great stuff, kind of wish I never got rid of it now! True, some of it is worth money, but running them is what it's all about!!

pass test just hi there james what was it like flying the tornado?

It like James is sticking a big middle finger to model collectors. =D

@dreambuilders48808 I disagree- once something ends up in the hands of a collector it's destined to never be used again, only put in a glass case and sold around at auctions to other collectors, for noone else would realistically pay the obscene prices most of it goes for. People who want an old model train etc to actually use will never be able to, as old things get older and more 'collectable'

Think of collectors as a large warehouse holding something for you. Years from now their stuff will be put up in auction or end up at a flea market or yard sale ( Something unique in USA ). At that point you have a chance to get that item you couldnt have when you were younger.

@tango909 Now thats Funny!

crap video quality ? at the top of the screen type in &fmt=18

Crap video quality

The most appealing thing about these toy series he does is that you get the sense he's using his powers as an adult to fulfil all of his wishes when he was a boy.

Modeltrains were my biggest passion untill i was about 13, when i found out about girls XD

sad that some don't even come out of the package. I havn't used mine in a solid year and am itching to ship it over to germany and get it set up at my dads house for christmas. And at rinjingan, im 15, and I have the track and trains for a pretty sweet layout.

it is a serious hobby, its not just a toy, if you were to buy a toy get ones that will work for about a week and are made of plastic that you get at the dollar store for a buck

lol

A Model railway is not a toy, it is a train that you can own. You are it`s boss you control it. I have diesels in my collection and steam locomotives and I`m 52 years old.
