Try to equalize the tongue (T or K) and throat (K or G) strokes. Play the exercise with: 2/4 TTT-KKK-TKTKT-KTKTK 4/4 TTTTTTT-KKKKKKK-TKTKTKTKTKTKT-KTKTKTKTKTKTK. my teacher told me to use kee or ku, your way is better

thank u for ur help i had trouble wit double tonguing !i wish u could teach me:3

i do not play like that, my tounge gets all jumbled up.

doule tounging is hard!

This was so helpful! Thank you so much! I was having trouble tonguing on a extremely fast sixteenth note arpeggio, but I practiced this and got it!

u r so helpful i wish i could have lessons with u

you have some great videos nina^^ my band director is great at most instruments, with trumpet as his main instrument. he is giving me private lessons and when always directs me to your videos for flute, as an alternative perspective... im learning vibrato now.. ya... wrong video.. but i felt like saying that..

i find it also helpful to tongue right above your gum line in back of your front teeth on the ta sound....makes for a lighter and more even tonguing

Thanks for offering such useful advice! As a saxophonist, I've have had a hard time adapting to flute articulation and vibrato. I've already seen great progress in my playing from your tips. Peace

I DO THE SAMETHING AS U!!! LOL , but today my music teacher said that i had to learn tounging T^T

your video has helped me alot !!!!!!!! iam the envey of all of the other flute players.

Dear Nina, I am total flute analphabet, but one year ago I get a flute from my friend, cause love it so much! I have no teacher, and neither I know the notes (!!!) But I have good music ear love to play!!! Your lessons are for me very very great for me and I promis I will follow them and practice...Thank you veeery much !!!

oh my goodness! one particular part of this video was especiallly helpful to me! you described the "ka" syllable as the throat syllable! to be quite honest, I have been double tonguing for a couple of years now and have never really focused on the "ka" syllable that way. This relates back to another video of yours that explains how descriptions of different methods are very personal to the student. Thank you very much for your description! haha my private teacher will be ecstatic

oh god... I'm no instructor, but I know from experience that that is the worst possible thing you can do. Definately practice transitioning into tounging. Stopping the air with your throat is bad for tone quality and will kill you. And when you start tounging, make sure you use correct syllables, or you might as well be stopping the air with your throat.

Its better to tongue because, you get better quality sound and you separate your notes. As opposed to doing it with air, where you'll slur your notes together and it sounds messy.

I think i just fall in love with you, jaja. great job! i´m gonna use that tktktk in bs as streets, thx

Umm... I was just wondering about why I need tonguing. It's just that instead of tonguing, I've been stopping the air using my throat ever since I've started playing the flute. None of my band instructors have ever said anything about it and I was wondering whether there was a real reason to switch over to tonguing. I want to try to learn it and think that it would help motivate me if I knew the benefits of it over my current style. Any help would be great.

Not gonna lie. I alwaaaays struggled with double tonguing. This has helped me sooo much! Thank you!

Thanks a lot Teacher Nina. Such a great help

can anyone tell me if you can leave your right hand little finger on the Db key for the whole of a 2 octave arpeggio? it doesnt seem to affect the intonation and sliding to and from this key is an awkward and risky movement. thanks.

There's many ways to do one thing..most likely legit.

very useful :) thank you!

C'est vraiment formidable! merci beaucoup!

hi nina, I am a fun of yours! I posted a duet video response with one of my friends entitled TO RESCUE A SINNER LIKE ME its a christian song that we played here at church. I am having difficulty in playng the 2nd to 3rd octaves bt my friend does and viceversa. I wud appreciate it much if you could please leave a few comments, suggestion or recomendation for further improvement. Thank you very much! hoping to hear from you soon! God bless! -joshua Francisco-
