@JuanMacready who cares how old he was, this is still a great comedy and the fact that its still shown over 40 years later and is still loved shows that, times change maybe for the best maybe for the worse but no one can argue that at it was and still is a comedy masterpiece.

@JuanMacready I wouldn't go so far as to say that On The Buses is evil. The series was made 40 years ago and reflects attitudes of the day. Young women were described as "always gagging for it" and gay men were depicted as limp wristed mincers who called everyone "ducky"! The name Chalky is unacceptable today, but, in the series, he was treated with respect and as an equal.

Of course it's racist, there were racist jokes and the only black character was nicknamed "Chalky". Thank God this evil series could never be made today.
