Listening to Michael Mc Donald merely talk, is like beholding the pouring of warm cream over the pert breasts of a young, beautiful woman.

Rick looks better now than he did back in the 70's.

you are so correct...Rainey is a monster of such magnitude...what a great player

What a great groove and amazing solo! Check out our new westcoast band State Cows. Jay Graydon is playing on our upcoming record!

Steely Dan rules, that's it!

Yes truly amazing, these guys used the best session players who played the songs over and over to go beyond perfection...a great legacy of jazz rock.

Got this DVD from Amazon a while back. Unbelievable. Must have watched it 100 times, never get bored of it, they are just amazing. Saw them live in Birmingham a couple of years ago, without doubt ginats of rock.

my dream would to have an ounce of weed and again listen to becker and fagen tell me how aja was made while playing back all the loops on that mixer. i would be in heaven.

jeff porcaro made a loop track of the drum and bass line and drove about all night listening to it. marotta said it was one of the best compliments he ever had.

insanely good barbershop feeling when soloed

I love you comment. I totally agree.

@ediblesounds Music is regressing. The music industry is so greedy and desperate they're manufacturing musicians instead of going with raw talent like they had to.

The Michael McDonald harmonies are AMAZING and remember this was before AUTO TUNE! When you here those notes he hit soloed on the board they are amazingly perfect! So intricately layered. What a genius of a singer and what an ingenious band! THE BEST.

How the hell did this band make it into the Rock Hall of Fame and a band like DEVO can't?? Steely Dan's music was the norm for that day and is obsolete today. Devo's music and influence can be heard in today's music. I can name you over a hundred bands who said DEVO inspired/ influenced them, but can't name one band who said the same about Steely Dan...

i love this song. so funky.

ive seen steely 6 times and im only 31 yrs old they are awesome---truly revolutionary! they were way ahead of there time! steely dan fan for life!

It's really difficult to cope with listening to this...it's so mind numbingly awesome!

Totally! I was a kid in the late 70's/early 80's, and this awesome tune was on the radio constantly! It seemed like it was played every third song on every single radio station! It was everywhere! They even used it for sports segments on the news, the muzak when TV stations were "Experiencing Technical Difficulties"... It was seared into my brain! I remember driving around in the car when I was a kid and I was like "Wow! This is freakin' great!" What a classic!!!! Groove on, bruthas!

@2:56 when Walter talks about that syncopation of the bass and kick, that's such an awesome observation of a genius sound. The bass and kick gives the groove a floating feeling.

I love how they actually goof on the other takes on the guitar solos''who does that''they do''why''because they can''lol there arrogance is legendary''

ya know how difficult this shit is,,the michael mcdonald harmonies are ridiculous''the other drummer is amazing also''I can watch this shit over & over''there music is some of the most difficult stuff u will ever play''

I've known forever that it was Michael McDonald on the backing vocals and knew kinda superficially his sound from the Doobie Brothers, but WOW, when they pick out his harmonies, or even moreso each individual track in the harmony, that's amazing. Almost supernatural.

Finally, the secrets of perfection reveiled.

I do know that Larry Carlton and Walter Becker were 2 of them. Possibly Dennis Dias as well. But of the 2 on this video they were both Walter Becker.

I vividly remember hearing this song on the radio when it was in heavy rotation. I was only three or four at the time, but it definitely shaped my musical opinion moving forward. Great to see and hear the individuals who made such a profound and lasting impact on my life.
