ADORE Steely Dan, a large part of my life and appreciation of music.

Check out KING OF THE WORLD - Steely dan, great song!

You're a fucking ass!!!! lololololololololololol FUNNY AS HELL BUDDY! Thanks You Great Way to start the day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@brendonkas You gonna aks heem, re: "The Naked Lunch" ...or just let Stevie boy wander around "making discoveries" left & right......?? You be sooo mean!

@brendonkas Hey, atleast he can read from Wikipedia!! Next week he'll learn what "Allegory" means... The next week after--he'll inhale! In about ten years, he'll be a "Dan Head"....

duh!!!!!!!!

This is, hands down, my favorite SD jam. Great video, well put together! :D

SD the best.

I understand the lyrics now very clever Altamira is a cave in Spain famous for its Upper Paleolithic cave paintings featuring drawings and polychrome rock paintings of wild mammals and human hands. Its special relevance comes from the fact it was the first cave in which prehistoric cave paintings were discovered, It is located near the town of Santillana del Mar in Cantabria, Spain, 30 km west of the city of Santander. The cave with its paintings has been declared a World Heritage Site

stop reminiscing about your youth, live your life while you still can dude, live in the now.

Got all their stuff on Vinyl, so cool and laid back - their stuff just catapults me back to my youth. Fascinating cave drawings to match a great song.

One of the best of Steely Dan- and there are a lot! It is so good to see that so many people really dig this song...and may I state it: it is damn hard to beat a Steely Dan coda, and this tune proves to be no exeption. When I first started listening to these guys, I thought that I would never get the chance to see them live....it's17 years now of seeing these cats! Only regret: not willing to come up with the cash to see the Royal Scam show at the Beacon with Larry Carlton...miss Mr. Bumpus

Quite a beautifal and intriguing song...this album is a masterpiece of music from any era...sublime Jim

@landart67 ...almost a "Lead Drum kit in there" ,..a/l/a Keith Moon, ehh?? With the fabled Crusaders Horn section,... cruising thru shifts...and tempo changes

Hey,...nemo go frick yourself..we kinda figured it all out about 3000 comments ago ....and by , oh..the 3rd time we listened to the song in... 1976. (When I studied Oldauvi Gorge, etc) You need not be from the Australopithecine or Africanus Robustus eras to catch the drift of the song. Ya need to listen to alot more "Dan", wise up, and get a real edge going..! eh ?? Anyone who watched "Dances with Wolves" is an "Amateur Anthropologist" .Sheesh! ...Like Fagen and Becker aren't ??

great video, well done. "But you and me we understood"

The song is truly awesome! It's about pictographs, which are ancient paintings, painted by very ancient artisans. I'm an amateur anthropologist, and the song is relevant as well as musically great.

One of my favs for sure!!! Yes indeed great drum track!!! Love the drum sound!! The sax solo is to die for!!!

The cave paintings in Spain are what is drawn on the wall. It was the prevailing media at the time, i.e. hollywood. They had art when there wasn't even any Hollywood. Peace

I'm still trying to figure out what exactly was written, or drawn on some cave wall, - or on the wall's of the young Donald's playhouse dugout - that is somehow connected to Hollywood. What? Who? Where? I don't understand.

Great tune. Great playing.

"The Caves of Altamira" song and video is excellent. Thanks Melegorm!

This song gives me goosebumps....

Killer drum track as well, veyr difficult to play.
